Video: Nigerian modular refineries get $500m boost

The Bank of Industry and the Export-Import Bank of China have
signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide a credit line of up to
$500million dollars towards the establishment of modular refineries in
Nigeria.
BOI Managing Director, Mr Olukayode Pitan, said the agreement aimed to
create 10 modular refineries and over 100,000 jobs in Nigeria’s oil
and gas sector, a decisive move to advance Federal Government’s
Modular Refineries and Flare Gas Recovery Programme.

Prof. Femi Odekunle, a member of The Presidential Advisory
Committee Against Corruption, has urged Nigerian Professionals working
with foreign companies to put Nigeria’s interest first to enable the
country to successfully combat Illicit Financial Flow.
Odekunle, who spoke on the sidelines of the ongoing International
Conference on Combating Illicit Financial Flows and Enhancing Asset
Recovery for Sustainable Development, said Nigerian professionals were
in the best position to curb illicit financial flows.

The Ethiopian government has released an unprecedented 8,875
prisoners as part of a goodwill gesture to commemorate Ethiopian New
Year, Enkutatash in Amharic language celebrated annually on September
11 or September 12 during a leap year.
The prisoners were released from prisons located in regional states as
part of the Ethiopian government’s strategy to foster peace and
reconciliation in the country.

Zimbabwe has declared an emergency in the capital Harare following
cholera outbreak as death toll rises to 20 and more than 2,000 people
are infected.
Health Minister, Obadiah Moyo said government had put measures in
place to contain the spread and treat the infected.
Zimbabwe had recorded 98,596 cases of cholera and 4,369 deaths between
August 2008 and June 2009, the highest in the country’s history.

World leaders and business tycoons are gathered in Russia’s Far
Eastern port city of Vladivostok to discuss cooperation at the ongoing
fourth Eastern Economic Forum.
Chinese President Xi Jinping is attending the Forum this year at the
invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the first time the
Chinese head of state is participating in the event.
The three-day forum, which has thousands of attendees from more than
60 countries in attendance, would examine topics of international
cooperation in Far Eastern development, industry priorities in the Far
East, tools to support investors and measures to improve living
